If and ONLY IF you have turned in ALL of your class and homework are you are eligible to complete and extra credit assignment. The extra credit assignment is worth 10pts. If you complete the assignment 10 extra points will be added to the numerator of your grade. For example if we had 200pts for the quarter and you earned 160 you would have a score of B- or 80%. If you completed all your work and the extra credit assignment your grade would raise up to B+ or 85%. These assignments are meant to challenge you and better prepare you for High School. These assignments are not meant to be easy. You will have to take your time and put some thought into earning these extra points.

Your assignment is to write a 5 paragraph formal letter to President William Howard Taft. Your letter will focus on the events of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire and discuss a plan to make working conditions safer for all workers in the United States. Please provide President Taft a summary of what happened at the fire. What were some of the issues that caused so many people to die? What needs to be changed? What can be done to make the work place safer? Why should the government be involved?
